The Academic Immersion (AIM) program offers motivated high school juniors and seniors an unparalleled opportunity to dive deeply into a subject they’re passionate about. This three-week, pre-college program combines rigorous academic coursework with hands-on, experiential learning. Participants choose from four dynamic tracks—Introduction to Experimental Psychology, Introduction to Medicine, Creative Writing, and Business—each designed to provide students with a blend of classroom instruction and real-world application. The program is available to both residential and commuter students, offering a taste of college life and a supportive, engaging environment. Each AIM track emphasizes both theoretical and practical learning. For instance, students in the Experimental Psychology track will design and conduct their own research experiments under the guidance of Boston University instructors. Those in the Introduction to Medicine track will engage in lab work, simulations, and explorations of various medical specialties. The Creative Writing track nurtures young writers through workshops, free-writing exercises, and visits to cultural landmarks in Boston, all under the mentorship of experienced authors. The Business track, offered in partnership with BU’s Questrom School of Business, features interactive lectures, case studies, and a team-based New Product Development project, culminating in presentations evaluated by faculty. Beyond academics, AIM includes enriching activities like field trips, guest speaker sessions, and group projects, providing invaluable insight into potential career paths. Students also enjoy a vibrant social atmosphere, making new friends and participating in planned events. The residential experience includes staying on campus, while commuters benefit from full program access during the day. With a focus on cultivating academic and personal growth, AIM prepares students not only for college but for life beyond. Whether honing your scientific research skills, exploring creative expression, or developing entrepreneurial acumen, AIM empowers students to explore their interests in depth and gain clarity on future pursuits.
