826 Boston's After-School and Evening Tutoring Program provides individualized support to students to help them complete homework, practice sustained reading, and create writing projects. This program is meant to bolster a student's ability to express ideas effectively, creatively, and confidently. The curriculum focuses on multiple areas of study. For After-School Tutoring, students from grades 1-12 work with tutors to complete homework, read aloud or independently, and write for publication. The Evening Tutoring Program is designed for middle and high school students, offering tutoring in subjects such as English, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geometry, Algebra, and general math. Additional subjects, including foreign languages, are available upon request. The program is carried out in person at 826 Boston’s Egleston Square writing and tutoring center. The schedule for the After-School Tutoring Program is from 4:30-6:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays. Students are expected to regularly attend on their designated days, and the first day of tutoring for enrolled students begins in late September. The main outcome of the program is to help students improve their grades and overall academic performance. In fact, 90% of parents reported that their child's grades improved as a result of attending the 826 Boston program.
