Back to database

The Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC) is an annual national competition designed to inspire and challenge talented high school and CEGEP students in chemistry. Aimed at the top 10% of students under 20 years old, the CCC serves as a platform to foster interest in chemistry as a future career while promoting academic excellence. Each year, over 600 students participate, taking the exam alongside the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO), which is a more advanced competition for the top 5% of these students. The contest helps participants develop problem-solving skills and deepen their understanding of core chemistry concepts. In addition to fostering academic growth, the CCC is closely linked to the CCO, a rigorous competition that selects Canada’s team for the International Chemistry Olympiad. Students who excel in the CCC may advance to the CCO, which includes intensive preparation and training camps. These camps offer advanced problem-solving sessions, guided by expert chemistry graduate students, to help participants tackle Olympiad-level challenges. The CCO and CCC together provide an exceptional opportunity for high-achieving students to enhance their chemistry knowledge and compete at a national and international level. Participants in the CCC and CCO gain valuable experience that can serve as a foundation for future academic and professional pursuits in chemistry and related fields.
