The CiM Intergenerational Program Youth Roster provided by Concerts in Motion is a unique learning opportunity that fosters personal growth and community service through performance-based outreach. The program welcomes students eager to make a positive impact on the lives of socially isolated individuals. It weaves service, outreach, and music into a rewarding experience where students can practice their performance and presentation skills, participate in professional development workshops, and forge connections with professional musicians and community leaders. The program's main objective is to connect young musicians and change-makers with older adults, creating a supportive, inclusive environment that combats social isolation through music and outreach. Students have the opportunity to perform in or host concerts and special open mic events throughout New York City, focusing on engaging with a diverse audience in a safe and supportive environment. It also offers personal growth and Person-Centered Trauma-Informed Care (PCTIC) workshops, providing a well-rounded experience for participants. The CiM Intergenerational Program is delivered both virtually and in-person. Students engage directly with audience members through music and conversation, whether they are performing in-person for long-time partners of Concerts in Motion or homebound music-lovers, or virtually for an appreciative online audience. It is suggested that students commit for a school year. In recognition of their service, students can earn community service credit and are eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards Program. At the end of their commitment, they receive a certificate of completion and are welcomed into the CiM Alumni cohort. As for prerequisites, the program is open to students interested in serving socially isolated individuals through their musical talents. They do not specify any particular musical skill level or prior experience, making it accessible to a wide range of students. The main outcomes of the program are multifaceted. Not only do participants hone their performance and presentation skills, but they also gain valuable experience in community service and outreach. It aims to instill a sense of social responsibility in students and empower them to use their talents for the betterment of their communities. By fostering relationships with professional musicians and community leaders, the program also provides networking opportunities that could potentially pave the way for future endeavors in the field of music and service.
