CityParks Tennis, a free program by the City Parks Foundation, provides tennis instruction to youth aged 6-17 across New York City’s five boroughs -- in 30 different city parks. The Youth Tennis Program, offered during both the summer and spring seasons, is designed to introduce young participants to the basics of tennis through engaging games and drills, helping them discover a sport they can enjoy for life. With sessions running once a week in the summer and weekly during the spring, the program caters to a broad range of skill levels, making tennis accessible and fun. Led by professional tennis instructors, the program emphasizes hands-on learning through interactive drills and games tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Beginners learn fundamental tennis skills such as grip, stance, and swing, while more experienced juniors have opportunities to participate in friendly competitions that allow them to apply their skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. In addition to foundational training, the Youth Tennis Program also offers a pathway for young players to advance within the broader CityParks Tennis curriculum, including potential participation in citywide tournaments and specialized training opportunities. These additional pathways include the Aces program, which offers year-round indoor training, and the Lacoste Junior Tennis Academy, which provides advanced coaching at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for dedicated junior players. By participating in the Youth Tennis Program, children and teens gain not only tennis skills but also the chance to engage in physical activity, build confidence, and connect with peers, setting the foundation for both personal and athletic development. Participants in the Summer program can be invited by their coaches to participate in our year-round BNP Paribas Aces Tennis Program. Participants in Aces receive free indoor training in a small group environment. This program offers continued training in the off-season when court time is more expensive and less available.
