Back to database

The Cory Booker Internship Program, provided by the Office of Senator Cory Booker, is a key opportunity for high schoolers, undergraduates, and recent graduates to gain first-hand experience of how Congress operates. Interns in this program are able to work in the Senator's offices in Washington D.C., Newark, and Camden. The main responsibilities of interns include a variety of constituent-focused tasks, general office duties, and research. In the Newark and Camden offices, interns will assist with tasks such as answering phones, processing incoming mail and email, accompanying staff to community events, drafting memos for events, tracking constituent opinions and conducting research. Interns based in Washington D.C. will also attend committee hearings and legislative briefings, provide tours of the U.S. Capitol for visiting New Jerseyans, draft memos and letters on specific policy items, and conduct research. The program is offered in fall, spring, and summer sessions. The Fall internship program runs from mid-September to mid-December, and the Spring Internship Session runs from January to Mid-May. The internship application deadlines vary according to the session, with the portal closing for the Fall session at the end of July. Preference for the internship is given to New Jersey residents and the office is an equal opportunity employer, not discriminating based on race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Upon completion of the program, interns will have gained valuable experience and a comprehensive understanding of the legislative process and the operations of a senatorial office.
