The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory presents the in-person course, Critical Thinking I. This course is aimed at helping students navigate the information overload in today's world by applying critical thinking skills. The curriculum covers a range of topics such as understanding what makes a fact, recognizing implicit bias, developing effective arguments, and using research and data analysis to propose solutions to real-world problems. The course is delivered in person, fostering a direct interaction between students and instructors. The course runs from mid-September to early December, with classes taking place every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The instructors are experienced STEM professionals from The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. The primary outcome of the Critical Thinking I course is to equip students with the ability to think critically and apply this skill across various fields and situations. By the end of the course, students will be able to interpret information effectively, construct powerful arguments, and leverage data analysis to solve problems.
