Quinnipiac professors and sports journalism professionals champion this 1-week program for students to gain hands-on experience as sports journalists and develop an understanding of potential career opportunities. Attendees write, edit, record and produce sports stories both on and off campus while learning the basics of interviewing athletes and conducting press conferences. Calling all future ESPN anchors, sports writers, color commentators and sideline reporters! This summer, Quinnipiac is offering the perfect summer program for aspiring journalists, broadcasters or media production professionals with a passion for sports. High school students will have the opportunity to learn directly from Quinnipiac professors and sports journalism professionals as they spend a full week getting hands-on experience learning how to write and produce their own stories, host press conferences and interview professional athletes. Students will learn the fundamentals of sports journalism and journalistic writing while using our state-of-the-art media production studio to record, edit and produce work at a professional level. Participants will also meet a variety of sports journalism professionals (including special guest speakers) who can offer insight into career possibilities in the industry. At the end of this program, you'll walk away with: - An understanding of the sports journalism field and relevant career opportunities - Broadcasting and journalism skills including journalistic writing, interviewing, sports photography/videography and production techniques - Hands-on experience with conducting interviews - Meaningful relationships with working professionals embedded in the sports industry
