Genesys Works is an initiative aimed at providing career pathways and opportunities for high school seniors from underserved communities. The primary objective is to equip these young adults with the knowledge and skills required for career success, upward mobility, and economic self-sufficiency. The program focuses on imparting business technology skills, providing professional development training, and offering career coaching. Students begin their journey with Genesys Works by undergoing an eight-week skills training course. They acquire essential skills in information technology, business operations, and professional development. Some of the key topics covered include database management, quality assurance testing, web development, project coordination, accounts payable and receivable, vendor management, and data input, analysis, and management. Following successful completion of the skills training, students transition into a paid, year-long internship at a partner company. The internship operates on an "earn and learn" model, allowing students to further develop their skills with twenty-hour work weeks while still attending school. The practical application of their training is further supplemented with more than sixty hours of career guidance, counseling, and planning. The duration of the Genesys Works program is approximately one year, with daily schedules usually running from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. High school seniors are the primary target demographic, and the eligibility criteria is based on their current residency in underserved communities and lack of access to resources for sustained economic mobility. Upon completion of the Genesys Works program, participants can expect several outcomes and benefits. In addition to gaining practical experience and professional skills, students also earn between $10,000 and $15,000 during their senior year of high school. They are also supported by a robust network of Genesys Works alumni who can provide guidance and support as they navigate their future career paths.
