HackPoly.Tech INIT is a free and beginner-friendly high school hackathon aimed at fostering innovation and creativity among students in Baltimore. The main objective is to provide a platform for students to collaborate on tech projects, known as "hacks," and develop tangible products. Participants, even those with no prior coding experience, are encouraged to form teams, brainstorm ideas, and bring those ideas to life. The event includes workshops and mentorship to support beginners. The hackathon is scheduled to take place in December 2024. It is an in-person event where students use their school laptops and engage in various hands-on activities. Participants can expect a supportive environment with food and swag provided. Additionally, select teams have the opportunity to win prizes such as Echo Dots, RGB Keyboards, and gift cards. The event is organized by a team including Chris Ajayi, Josh Daniel Tagle, Dakota Sams, Andy Cruz, Diego Escobar, Yoseph Getachew, Umar Muzni, Yinka Ojolayo, Jesh Starghill-Shaka, Niko Stevenson, and faculty advisor Mr. Joshua Massey. Participants should be high school students with an interest in computer science and innovation. The main benefits include gaining experience in tech innovation, teamwork, and potentially winning tech-related prizes.
