The course provides an expansive learning experience where students can hone their drawing skills through live nude models, still-lifes, and interiors using perspective drawing techniques. The curriculum encourages the use of all drawing media. The course is delivered in an in-person format at the main campus of the Fashion Institute of Technology. The schedule of the course is set for Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, starting from late September and concluding in mid-December, with a total contact hour of 30. The instructor for this course will evaluate the current work of the students to identify areas of improvement or creation. For the first class, students are required to bring samples of their work, including a portrait, a painting, mixed media, art from their imagination, a contour drawing, and various works from observation in both color and black and white. The eligibility criteria for the course specify that it is open to high school students entering grades 9 through 12 as of the upcoming Fall semester. Moreover, there are specific course supplies like drawing paper, pencils, and erasers required for the first day of class with additional supplies discussed in the first class. Upon completion of the course, students will have developed new skills and improved their existing ones in various types of drawing. They will have a first-class portfolio ready for review by college committees, showcasing a range of their artwork. This course provides a platform for students to showcase their creativity and skill, preparing them for their next academic journey.
