Internship Placement Program: Veterinary Sciences

This is an internship-based program designed to expose students to veterinary sciences in a biomedical research environment while enhancing their basic science knowledge and language arts skills. Participants will spend each day in the placement for the purpose of study and career exploration in veterinary medicine. The internship Program is designed to allow students the opportunity to experience the multifaceted field of Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM). Students will be supervised through hands on experience with clinical cases involving animals used for biomedical research studies. Through rotations on clinical rounds, in the diagnostic laboratory, and research laboratories, students will gain a full appreciation of the role of the veterinarian in an academic research setting. Clinical rotations are supplemented by a weekly didactic clinical meeting where students participate in case presentations. Highlights

• Get to know the Mount Sinai campus and its facilities Requirements • Full attendance • Regular oral and written progress reports • Completion of a final written and oral research report
