"Inventors Lab: Data Visualization" is a four-week workshop offered by The Cooper Union, where storytelling meets engineering. The main objective of the program is to provide students with the skills to read, clean, and use data sets to design engaging visuals. This program combines elements of data analysis with creative visual design, providing a unique intersection of technical and artistic skills. The program is delivered in person on Saturdays, providing students with immersive, hands-on experience with data visualization tools and techniques. The workshop runs from early November to mid-December, excluding a few Saturdays. Applications for this learning opportunity are due by mid-October. This opportunity is open to high school students who live in New York City, particularly those in the 9th through 12th grades. The Cooper Union gives priority to students who do not have prior experience in engineering and who do not have access to engineering programs at their schools. While income restrictions do apply, students from households above the NYC Median income may also be considered. Upon completion of the program, students will have gained practical skills in data visualization, including how to read, clean, and use data sets effectively. This program offers a unique opportunity for students to merge their technical and creative skills, preparing them for further study or careers in a wide range of fields, from engineering to design.
