The JTS Emerging Leaders Fellowship is a program designed for 11th graders from across North America, offering them the chance to engage deeply with Jewish text, tradition, and history. Running from November through June, the program aims to provoke thoughtful inquiry and personal growth through the study of Jewish Studies. Participants will face challenging questions, work with leading scholars, and integrate their learning into personalized projects, which can range from reports and shiurim to creative artistic and musical endeavors. The fellowship is delivered in a hybrid format. It begins with six weekly virtual sessions on key topics in Jewish Studies. Midway through, students attend an in-person Shabbaton in New York, fostering deep learning and social interaction. Throughout the program, students collaborate with Rabbinical School mentors on individual projects, supported by regular mentoring, group workshops, and guest classes from JTS faculty. The virtual sessions take place on Tuesdays from 7:30–8:45 p.m. ET. The program, directed by Dr. Phil Keisman, who has extensive experience in Jewish education, charges a tuition fee of $500 for the academic year. Students are encouraged to prepare for a rigorous academic journey that will significantly impact their Jewish identities.
