The Junior Youth Orchestra Level I by Atlanta Music Project (AMP) is a beginner to intermediate ensemble designed primarily for middle school students and some intermediate high school students. This program provides comprehensive training in symphonic orchestral music, focusing on violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, and orchestral percussion. The objective is to help young musicians develop their skills in a variety of symphonic music genres, reflecting the diverse cultures of the communities served by AMP. The orchestra performs music from levels 2-4, allowing students to learn and grow in their musical abilities. The program is led by AMP's faculty, consisting of professional musicians and music educators who are passionate about empowering the next generation of musicians. The Junior Youth Orchestra Level I is a part of the broader AMP Youth Orchestras, which aims to become one of the top youth training orchestra programs in the country. The Junior Youth Orchestra Level I rehearses twice a week, on Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 11:00am. All students receive a full scholarship covering tuition. However, there is a small registration fee of $25 per child, with a reduced fee of $10 for siblings. Aspiring participants should apply to audition for placement in the orchestra, with beginner to intermediate players being the ideal candidates for this level. Upon completion of the program, participants are expected to have gained significant skills and knowledge in their chosen instrument and orchestral music, setting the stage for potential progression to more advanced ensembles. This program is a significant step towards realizing AMP's vision of empowering youth through music to unlock life-changing outcomes.
