The Junior Youth Orchestra Level II, provided by Atlanta Music Project, is an intermediate ensemble geared towards young musicians in middle school who are comfortable playing late intermediate music. The learning opportunity encompasses a broad array of instruments, including violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, and orchestral percussion. This ensemble provides a platform for students to perform music from Level 2 to Level 4. The ensemble is an integral part of the Atlanta Music Project's mission to empower youth from under-resourced communities through music training. The emphasis is on the pursuit of musical excellence, which aids in the development of confidence, creativity, and ambition amongst the participants. The faculty comprises professional musicians, music educators, and guest artists passionate about nurturing the next generation of musicians. The Junior Youth Orchestra Level II convenes twice a week, with sessions held on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Students interested in the program are required to audition, with the auditions serving as prerequisites for participation. Students who are in between levels may have the chance to perform select pieces with a more advanced ensemble. Upon completion of the program, participants will have had the opportunity to experience and perform in a variety of musical genres, representing the culture of the communities served by the Atlanta Music Project. As a result, they will acquire advanced instrumental skills, a deeper understanding of symphonic music, and invaluable performance experience. The ensemble also offers full scholarship covering tuition, making it accessible to all students.
