Kaleidoscope, presented by ASU Gammage, is a comprehensive curriculum-based program aimed at introducing students from Title I high schools to the world of musical theater. Each year, the staff at ASU Gammage works closely with schools to create an immersive curriculum that delves into the historical and sociological aspects of a Broadway show. This not only enriches the students' understanding of the theater but also provides them with a memorable theater experience through the opportunity to watch a Broadway show. The curriculum is delivered in person, with the ASU Gammage team coordinating with the participating schools. This face-to-face approach allows for direct engagement and fosters a deeper understanding of the material. The program runs annually, with important dates such as watching Broadway shows scheduled for specific dates throughout the year. The application period opens in mid-August and closes in mid-September. The program is free of charge and exclusively available to Title I high schools. This accessibility makes it a unique opportunity for students in these schools to explore and appreciate musical theater, which may otherwise be beyond their reach. The program is facilitated by the ASU Gammage team, which includes leaders in cultural affairs and programs, ensuring that the students receive top-notch instruction and guidance. Upon completion of the Kaleidoscope program, students will have gained a deeper understanding of musical theater, covering both its historical and sociological aspects. They will also have the unique experience of having watched a Broadway show, broadening their cultural exposure and potentially sparking a lifelong interest in the arts.
