The Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP) offered by JCYC Workhub is an initiative designed to provide San Francisco youth with paid work opportunities and academic support, thereby equipping them with the essential tools and skills to succeed in the workplace. More than just a job placement program, MYEEP focuses on building the skills and confidence of participants to prepare them for life after high school. The program includes pre-employment training and workshops aimed at helping youth gain the necessary tools to enter the workforce. Additionally, interns receive individual tutoring and academic success support from an Academic Mentor, coupled with opportunities for mentorship and leadership growth within the program. Field trips and site tours to worksites and college campuses are also part of the program offering, either in person or virtually. Participants in the MYEEP program are compensated with a wage of $18.93 per hour for their internships at local organizations and businesses. The program invites applications from San Francisco residents who are incoming 9th to 10th graders and are able to obtain a work permit. There are also specific roles and opportunities for 10th to 12th graders, including the Counselor in Training and Project Coordinator roles, which offer slightly higher hourly wages. The primary outcome of participation in MYEEP is the preparation of participants for their future career goals and aspirations. The program equips participants with a diverse set of skills and experiences, from practical work experience to academic support and personal growth. It also fosters community ties and offers interns the chance to network with other youth in their neighborhood communities.
