The Medical Explorers Program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is designed to help high school students explore a variety of professions within the healthcare field. This program offers insights into careers ranging from direct patient care to business administration and leadership within the healthcare industry. It provides an opportunity for students to engage with expert panelists from diverse healthcare sectors, enabling them to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day work involved in different healthcare professions. Key topics covered in the program include pediatric medical and surgical specialties, anesthesia, nursing, therapy services, behavioral health, social work, and hospital administration. The program is delivered in-person, with sessions held weekly on Tuesday afternoons from 4 to 5 p.m., running from June 4 to August 13. Participants are required to attend all sessions to fully benefit from the experience. To participate in the Medical Explorers Program, students must be at least sophomores in high school and are required to pay a fee of $50, with provisions for financial hardship available. A signed permission form from a parent or legal guardian is also necessary. The program offers students the chance to learn about a wide array of healthcare careers, helping them make informed decisions about their future career paths in the healthcare sector.
