MIT Blueprint, provided by HackMIT, is a free, weekend-long learnathon and hackathon specifically designed for high school students of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced coders. Held in-person at MIT, the event aims to teach participants fundamental coding skills through hands-on workshops and to provide a collaborative environment for building innovative computer science projects. The curriculum offers workshops in various tracks, including programming fundamentals, web development, game development, and hardware. Additional activities include tech talks on specialized STEM topics, an organization fair, and auxiliary workshops. Participants will form teams, consult mentors for personalized feedback, and have the opportunity to demo their projects to judges for a chance to win prizes. Blueprint 2024 runs from March 2 to March 3, with the learnathon taking place on the first day and the hackathon on the second. Introductory workshops and community-building events occur during the preceding week, from February 26 to March 1. Applications for attendance are due by February 5, and no prior coding experience is required to participate. The program includes meals and offers travel reimbursements and discounted lodging options. Instructors for the event include MIT students and industry professionals who bring their expertise to guide participants through the learning and project-building process. Upon completion, students will not only gain valuable coding skills and a completed project but also the confidence and tools to pursue further endeavors in computer science.
