The course provides a hands-on studio experience, allowing students to develop new artworks to enhance their portfolios. It also guides them in selecting, revising, and editing their existing works to better represent their unique artistic perspectives. The curriculum is enriched by dynamic workshops and personal meetings with SAIC faculty and admissions staff, helping students to discover the most effective ways to document and organize their work. The course places significant emphasis on studio time and faculty support, enabling students to create final projects that boost their portfolio's overall presentation. Moreover, the curriculum is supplemented with artist presentations and virtual visits to the Art Institute of Chicago and other cultural institutions. This course runs from early October to mid-December, with classes held every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It is conducted in-person at the Sharp Building. The instructors, Zachary Hutchinson and Stevie Hanley, provide personalized guidance and support throughout the course. The registration deadline is at the end of September. The main outcome of this course is the enhancement of students' art portfolios, preparing them for upcoming college applications. They will not only develop new works of art but also learn how to effectively document, organize and present their work. It is a valuable opportunity for students to refine their unique artistic perspectives and create impactful portfolio presentations.
