RoboCup, organized by the RoboCup Federation, is a dynamic and multifaceted competition aimed at advancing robot technology to address real-world challenges. Its primary mission is to accelerate the development of affordable and reliable robotic solutions, with a long-term vision of having soccer robots capable of defeating human world champions by 2050. The event attracts around 2500 participants from approximately 40 countries, who compete in various leagues, including RoboCupSoccer, RoboCupRescue, RoboCup@Home, RoboCup Junior, and RoboCupIndustrial. Within these leagues, participants engage in a wide range of activities and competitions that emphasize different aspects of robotics. For example, RoboCupSoccer involves teams of robots playing soccer according to FIFA rules, focusing on developing complex robotic behaviors for improved human-robot interaction. RoboCupRescue tests robots in simulated disaster scenarios, where they must locate victims and provide crucial reports, highlighting the potential use of robots in emergency situations. Meanwhile, RoboCup@Home centers on caregiving robots performing household tasks, enhancing their ability to interact with humans and navigate various objects. The RoboCupIndustrial league, specifically RoboCup@Work, focuses on integrating robotics into industrial settings, challenging teams with tasks such as autonomous navigation, object recognition, and manipulation in work-related scenarios. Competitions like the ARM Challenge further develop participants' skills in robotic arm manipulation and object sorting. RoboCup is delivered in-person, offering participants hands-on experience in a collaborative international environment. The competition is open to high school students, among others, and provides educational and training materials to help newcomers get involved. The outcomes of participating in RoboCup include the development of advanced robotic skills, enhanced knowledge of artificial intelligence, and an opportunity to contribute to the rapidly evolving field of robotics.
