Tech Track, offered by the Irondale Ensemble Project, is a comprehensive learning opportunity designed for high school students interested in the various aspects of theater production. The main objective of the program is to provide insight into all facets of theater production ranging from costume and set design to marketing and lighting design. This is achieved through a series of hands-on projects that allow students to collaborate with the Young Company acting ensemble in designing, building, and producing the final performance. This program is delivered in-person, with classes meeting on Saturdays from 10am to noon. The program spans from February 10th to June 1st, with no classes on February 24th, March 30th, and April 27th. Additionally, a fall session is also available, running from September 28th to December 14th, with no class on November 30th. The Tech Track program is taught by Dominic Galiotto, who is a Technical Director, Scenic Technician, and Electrician at Irondale. His extensive experience in the field makes him an invaluable resource for students. There are no prerequisites for this program, making it accessible to all high school students. Middle school students who are motivated can also apply by interview. Upon completion of the program, students will have gained a comprehensive understanding of theater production. They will also have the experience of collaborating on a final performance, which will provide them with practical knowledge and skills in design, building, and production. This learning opportunity does not require any previous technical theater experience, making it an ideal choice for students who are beginning their journey in theater production.
