The Teen Team offered by the High Museum of Art is a year-long paid program that provides high school students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in art, culture, and history. The program aims to develop civic and team-building skills by offering participants behind-the-scenes access to the museum and the opportunity to assist in planning public events such as Teen Nights. During an eight-week summer intensive, participants will work on a project while learning about the museum's collections, careers, and programs. Throughout the academic year, they will continue to assist in developing and implementing programming for various age groups. The High Museum of Art employs a hands-on approach for the Teen Team program, including regular interaction with museum staff, arts professionals, and other teens. This interactive format provides a unique opportunity for participants to gain insights into various professional options and career paths in the arts sector. Eligibility for the Teen Team program is restricted to rising high school juniors and seniors who are enrolled full time in high school. The ideal candidates have an interest in art and the workings of a museum, and they should be comfortable working with visitors of all ages. They are expected to take initiative, display consideration and responsibility, and use their peer network effectively. The main benefits of the Teen Team program include practical experience in event planning and implementation, interaction with professionals in the arts sector, and exposure to various career paths related to art and culture. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the museum's exhibitions and collections, and they will have the opportunity to develop and hone their civic and team-building skills.
