The Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers is an annual contest established in 2007 by The Kenyon Review to recognize outstanding young poets who are high school sophomores and juniors. The competition honors Patricia Grodd for her generous support of the publication and her commitment to poetry and education. Participants are required to submit a single unpublished poem, and the winner's and runners-up's poems will be published in The Kenyon Review. The contest is delivered entirely online, with submissions accepted via the Submittable platform. Participants can submit their poems between November 1 and November 30 each year. Winners are announced in early February of the following year. The final judge for the contest is a renowned poet, and for this year's prize, the judge is Richie Hofmann, an acclaimed poet with works published in prestigious journals such as The Paris Review and The New Yorker. The winner receives a full scholarship to one of the Kenyon Review Young Writers workshops, while the runners-up receive partial scholarships. To be eligible, participants must be sophomores or juniors in high school. The main benefits of the contest include publication in a respected literary journal and the opportunity to attend a Young Writers workshop, which can significantly enhance their writing skills and literary exposure.
