Tisch Future Artists is a free, 14-week program provided by New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. The program is designed to develop the artistic talents of students who may not have access to similar programs in their schools or communities. It offers training across a range of artistic tracks, including Dance, Photography, Dramatic Writing, and Recorded music, among others. The program's key focus is to build a variety of skills drawn from the canon of world masters, helping the students realize the dynamics of live theatre, personal storytelling, digital game development, digital photography, and aspects of the contemporary music business. The program meets weekly on Saturdays at NYU's New York City campus, where students receive training and take classes from Tisch faculty in their respective artistic tracks following first-year undergraduate curricula. The Future Theatre Artists track, for instance, aims to develop each artist's unique voice and apply the acquired skills to many forms of creative theatrical expression. The Future Filmmakers track emphasizes personal storytelling, teaching students how to articulate themselves creatively through filmmaking. The Future Game Designers track introduces students to the process of digital game development, tabletop game design, and understanding game history and the game industry. Future Imagemakers is a digital photography program focusing on image-making, self-expression, and social justice, while Future Music Moguls introduces students to all aspects of the contemporary music business. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. Application materials include an online application form, personal statement, creative résumé, English language proficiency test results (for non-native English-speaking applicants), recommendation letter, and unofficial high school transcripts. The application deadline is in mid-November for the spring semester. Upon completion, participants will have enhanced their creative skills and gained a deeper understanding of their chosen artistic track. They will also have had the opportunity to network with like-minded peers and experienced faculty.
