The UH Mānoa Early College Scholars program is a dual credit initiative provided by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in partnership with high schools across Hawai‘i. The main objective of this program is to allow high school students, specifically those in 10th to 12th grades, to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. These courses are typically delivered on the high school campus, ensuring a sheltered environment where only high school students are participants. Importantly, there are no tuition or fee costs for students participating in this program. The program is designed for students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, though this does not guarantee acceptance. Additional considerations, such as past academic performance, may also be evaluated to determine a student's readiness for college-level coursework. The program's structure ensures that students begin an official college transcript, which can be beneficial for their future academic pursuits. Courses within the Early College Scholars program are typically offered during the regular school year, with application deadlines set for the fall and spring terms. Specifically, applications for the fall term are due by April 1, while the deadline for the spring term is October 31. Through this program, students gain not only college credits but also the experience of handling college-level courses, which can ease the transition into higher education. Below is a list of courses offered this summer. Course descriptions, dates, costs, and instructor details can be found on the Pre-College Summer Sessions website.
