Back to database

The United States Senate Page Program offers high school students the chance to engage in meaningful experiences in Washington, D.C. Participants in this program live and work in the nation's capital, gaining exposure to diverse ideas and perspectives while learning the importance of public service. Senate pages play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Senate, assisting with tasks such as delivering legislative materials and supporting senators during sessions. They are sponsored by senators and employed by the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms, adhering to strict conduct codes and employment policies. The program provides skills in communication, compromise, personal responsibility, and time management, as pages navigate a rigorous schedule that includes early mornings and late nights. The Senate Page School complements the academic curriculum of participants, offering honors-level courses designed for juniors. This educational component is administered by the Secretary of the Senate and is located in the Daniel Webster Senate Page Residence. To be eligible, students must be sponsored by a senator. There are only 30 page positions available, which means not all senators can appoint a page. Interested students should contact their senators for consideration and additional application requirements. The program not only imparts valuable skills and experiences but also provides opportunities for pages to form lifelong connections and explore Washington, D.C., through organized field trips and group activities.
