Back to database
The USA Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition designed for teenagers aged 13 to 19, functioning as an official region of the International Brain Bee. Its primary objective is to inspire young individuals to learn about the human brain and its applications in daily life, ultimately motivating them to pursue careers in basic and clinical brain sciences. The competition aims to cultivate the next generation of clinicians and researchers who will address the challenges posed by over 1000 neurological and psychological disorders. Participants in the USA Brain Bee learn about the brain's vital functions and the field of neuroscience, gaining appreciation and foundational knowledge that may inspire future careers as neurologists or neuroscientists. The competition includes various stages, leading up to the USA National Championship, which is held in-person. The next national championship is scheduled to take place in Florida, hosted by the University of Central Florida in late April. Eligibility is limited to teenagers within the specified age range, and students can only participate in one local chapter brain bee per year. A student is not allowed to represent their region in the International Brain Bee World Championships more than once. Notably, local and regional chapter coordinators, along with sponsors, benefit from the publicity and pride that comes with inspiring future researchers and physicians. Participants receive various awards, including certificates, prize money, and trophies, and top winners may earn internships with esteemed neuroscientists.
