Veritas AI's AI Scholars is an online learning opportunity aimed at high school students from grades 9-12. The main objective of this program is to provide a comprehensive understanding of key concepts in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). It offers an introduction to Python, data science, linear and polynomial regression, logistic regression, neural networks, and convolutional neural networks. Advanced topics such as image classification, deep learning, natural language processing, and sentiment analysis are also covered, along with discussions on AI ethics. The program is structured to span 25 hours over a period of either 10 weeks during weekends or 2 weeks during weekdays in the summer. Each session includes section lectures for 1.5 hours and a one-hour group session facilitated by a mentor, maintaining a 5:1 student to mentor ratio. The culmination of the program is a group project involving 3-5 students. The AI Scholars program is run by Veritas AI, a team founded and operated by Harvard graduates. Their mentors come from prestigious institutions and have specializations in various aspects of AI, machine learning, data science, and related fields. A notable mentor is Dash, who holds an MS in Data Science from Harvard University and specializes in causal inference in social policy and education. There are no prerequisites required for participation, making it accessible to all interested high school students. Upon completion, participants gain foundational skills in AI and ML, Python coding, and hands-on experience in executing a data science project. This program provides a strong platform for students to independently create AI models, making it an invaluable opportunity for those looking to delve into AI and ML.
