Windy City Hacks is a free, two-day hackathon event designed for high school students in the Chicagoland area. The main objective is to bring together programmers, artists, designers, and other high schoolers to build apps and games, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various workshops, receive mentorship, and compete for prizes. The curriculum covers several key topics and skills, including: - Introduction to Git and GitHub for project collaboration - Building personal websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Fundamentals of machine learning and AI, including training basic ML models - Innovative technology in business operations The event is delivered in-person at Towne Place Clubhouse, Schaumburg, IL, over the course of two days, from June 22-23, 2024. Participants will attend a series of scheduled activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies, workshops, hacking sessions, and various fun contests. Windy City Hacks is organized by a group of high school students from the Chicagoland area, with adult mentors and chaperones providing supervision throughout the event. Participants are required to bring their own computer, chargers, and a valid school ID. The hackathon is open to high school students of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. The outcomes and benefits of participating in Windy City Hacks include gaining hands-on experience in coding, digital design, and project collaboration. Participants will also enhance their problem-solving skills, build a portfolio of projects, and have the chance to win prizes for their work.
